60 MINUTES SPORTS cameras journey with Matthew Berry into a world of elite Fantasy drafts, including those held by the Howard Stern Show’s staff and the St. Louis Cardinals, to show why the game he says “saved my life” has become so big.
The proposed research will analyse the growing popularity of fantasy football in the UK, highlighting its importance in the consumption of the NFL by fantasy football participants. It is hoped the findings will reflect studies in the USA, underlining fantasy football’s significance regardless of country of residence.
In line with the research aim and proposed objectives an explanatory research approach will be undertaken.
The research will focus exclusively on fantasy football participants in the UK. Non-fantasy football players and players residing out with the UK will not be included in this study.
A mostly qualitative research approach will be used in order to obtain the attitudinal information required to satisfy the research objectives.
· Series of 4 focus groups constructed of 4-6 previously identified subjects who satisfy the criteria highlighted within the scope of the research.
· 12-16 structured individual in-depth interviews with co-operative members of the focus groups.
Focus groups are to be conducted in a neutral location for the convenience of the participants. Interviews will be conducted in person, over Skype or via a web chat.
